This year we are going to try doing Board elections online. All USA Fencing members in good standing should be receiving an email asking for volunteers/nominations, so check your inbox! (You know, the one you used for your USA Fencing registration.) Shortly after that, another email will go out with the survey.
There are four board positions: President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary. The main thing the Board does is organize the Div 2/3/Vets/Y14 national qualifying tournament for the Iowa Division (commonly known as Divisionals). In recent years, the Board has also organized athlete and referee development clinics. Term of office begins Aug. 1, 2015 and ends July 31, 2016. Voting is limited to USA Fencing members in good standing, ages 18+. There will, of course, be the opportunity for write-in candidates and the position will be offered to the person with the most votes. Should they decline, the position will be offered to the person with the next highest number of votes, and so on. Remember, you don't have to be on the board in order to get the Division's help with events and activities that benefit Iowa Division members; we encourage people with ideas and energy to get involved! Update: (Sunday, July 5) We have received 3 candidates for the Iowa Division Board: Alex Harms (running for President), Jann Ream (running for Treasurer), and Sarah Timmons Powell (running for Secretary). |
