How to Submit Sanctioned Tournament Results to USA Fencing
Assuming you’ve used Fencing Time to run your tournament…
1. Verify all USA Fencing member numbers for all competitors have been entered into Fencing Time. Absent or incorrect numbers will generate an error in USA Fencing’s system and it will get bounced back to you for correction.
If you need to enter or edit a membership number, you can do that one of two ways:
a) Click the "Competitors" button (in the relevant Event tab), then click the "Edit Person" icon (the one with the little pencil) next to the name of the competitor in the list.

b) Go to View >> Fencer Database, search for the fencer in question, and click the same "Edit Person" icon (with the little pencil) there.
2. Generate a .results file in Fencing Time. (File >> Export Results to USA Fencing, save to your computer)
3. Email the .results file to USA Fencing at [email protected]. (USA Fencing may have a different email listed specifically for results, but they seem to change it occasionally. The good folks on the other end of info@ will always get stuff where it needs to go.)
If your tournament was not sanctioned by the Iowa Division/USA Fencing, do not submit your results to USA Fencing.
AskFred.net is a completely separate entity from USA Fencing. It is a privately owned company, built by an old Microsoft engineer (who hates mobile, that's why there's not an app) around 2000. It uses some information from USA Fencing, but keeps its own separate databases. If you are trying to confirm any information like birth year or rating/classification for a fencer, use USA Fencing's information over AskFred's. It is best and standard practice to upload your tournament results to AskFred because people like to be able to look up and share results from that site. USA Fencing seems to be slowly building out their system, but the fencing community still relies on AskFred for a lot of things because its functionality (though not aesthetics) has been more advanced for so long.
Fencing Time also keeps a local database of fencers on your computer. This is probably the most outdated source of fencer information. When you open a tournament from AskFred, it will attempt to update its database with the information from AskFred. Newer versions of Fencing Time have the ability to verify membership status if there is an internet connection, but organizers should always check USA Fencing's website if there are any discrepancies.
